Late in the evening of August 31, 2022 a lightning strike hit high on the slopes of Chetamon Mountain near the Jasper Townsite. Over the course of the next week, wind and warm temperatures built this small blaze into a wildfire encompassing near 7000 hectares. This image was taken on September 3rd, when strong winds accelerated the blaze and engulfed the slopes of Gargoyle Mountain.
